RECOMMENDED SOLUTION

Working with Landmark Architects and Wiens & Company Construction, the district has developed a plan that tackles the most pressing facility needs while preparing our schools to serve the community for decades to come. The proposal strengthens safety with secure entrances and a FEMA-rated storm shelter, improves learning spaces with right-sized classrooms and updated cafeterias, and ensures reliability with critical upgrades to heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems. By addressing these needs now, the district can protect its investment in existing buildings, provide safer and more efficient schools, and create an environment where students and teachers can focus on learning.​

PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK

  • Secure Entrance & Office Addition: New main entry and office space on the north end to improve safety and visibility.

  • New Physical Education Classroom: Includes bleacher seating and locker rooms connected to the existing gym.

  • Cafeteria and Kitchen Renovations: Updated kitchen, concessions, and cafeteria to improve efficiency and service.

  • Classroom Upgrades: Renovations for ADA compliance and better learning spaces.

  • System Upgrades: HVAC, electrical, and lighting improvements to provide consistent, reliable service.

  • Building Finishes: Exterior and interior updates to extend the life of the facility.

  • Secure Entrance & Office/Classroom Addition: New entry and office space with additional classrooms and restrooms on the south end.

  • Library Connection: New indoor corridor linking to the Ida Long Goodman Library for student safety.

  • Classroom Renovations: Larger, right-sized classrooms to ease crowding and improve learning environments.

  • System Upgrades: HVAC, electrical, and lighting improvements, plus new hallway lockers for upper elementary students.

  • Building Finishes: Exterior and interior updates to to preserve and maintain the school.

  • FEMA Storm Shelter: A secure, reinforced shelter for all students and staff at both schools.

  • Site & Utility Work: Upgrades to ensure the schools remain safe, efficient, and functional.
