FACILITY CHALLENGES
Beginning in 2022, USD 350 launched a strategic planning process with community input to identify and prioritize the district’s needs. Facilities were ranked the top priority. Since then, the Board of Education and a Facilities Steering Committee of community members have studied the condition of our schools in depth. Working with Landmark Architects and Wiens & Company Construction, they identified the most urgent challenges that must be addressed to keep our schools safe, efficient, and able to serve students well into the future.

Secure Entrances at All Schools
Current entries at the elementary and high school buildings do not meet today's safety standards, limiting visibility and control over who enters our schools.

Reliable Storm Shelters
While the preschool has a storm shelter, the rest of the district does not. Existing locker rooms at the high school are not reinforced or ADA accessible. A FEMA-standard shelter is needed to protect students and staff district-wide.

Safe & Functional
Learning Environment
Outdated heating, cooling, electrical, and lighting systems make classrooms uncomfortable and hard to maintain. Upgrades are needed to provide a consistent place to learn.

ADA Accessibility
Many areas in both elementary and high school are not accessible for students, staff, or visitors with mobility needs. Updates are required to meet federal accessibility standards.

Overcrowded Classrooms
Some elementary classrooms are too small for the number of students they serve, limiting flexibility and making it difficult to provide the best learning environment.

Aging Cafeteria
and Kitchen Facilities
Current cafeteria and kitchen spaces are outdated, creating scheduling challenges and inefficiencies that impact both meal service and instructional time.
